Younger Voters

''I love the idea of being a part of history,'' Austin said. ''I voted for the first black presidential candidate. If he wins, I will have helped him. Yes!''

For the whole article on how Younger Voters add energy, drive from the Morning Call

I know I saw this in my city. Every time I waked downtown they had a a table out with people stopping me asking if I was registered to vote. At the halloween parade I saw young black women actually jeering and yelling boo! at Macain/Palin supporters. Not that I condone that, but it was nice to see people actively caring about the election, you know? I only had Obama supporters knocking at my door-I think because so many people in my income group are desparate for change. And at the Girls Club(that's where I vote) the people there were younger and darker skinned-black and hispanic. I think it will be interesting to see the actual numbers of 1. young voters that did vote(not just register)) 2. Minority voters and 3.women voters.
All in all I am happy to have been a part of this piece of history.

This is claire and I voted nader! But it's a win-win situation for me since I was pretty sure Obama was gonna win anyway and I'm fairly happy about that for now.

We had tons of Obama supporters at our door in Nazareth and I'd venture to say that many who can actually afford to own a home here, not rent, like us, are in a different income bracket than me or you. Obama just had this amazing ground force behind him and that in itself was such a neat part of his campaign! John even had somebody call him and ask him if he needed a ride to the polls!!

It was really humbling to see, at work, a white single mom cry because she now felt like her biracial child could do anything! This country has come such a long way!!!!!

I was upstairs cleaning on election day so as not to have to keep answering the door to people. I had two Obama supporters who came by on Saturday to ask if we needed any help getting to the polls Tuesday-they said if I needed a ride, a sitter, etc.
I didn't word that correctly in my post-sometimes I jump ahead in my thoughts and don't spell everything out the way I should (drives Tom crazy). I meant that this area in particular, and the financial circles I travel in all tend to support Obama. I can't comment on wealthier groups because I have no experience there. I think Obama is more relatable-not because he has dark skin, but because he's younger and he's a good speaker and because he just doesn't seem as out of touch as recent presidents-with the exception of Clinton-have. Wasn't it Bush the elder who was amazed at the price of bread and that grocery stores had the ability to scan? And Macain's comments on his houses and the economy when this financial crisis was revealed.....if you're "middle" or lower class you want someone who at least has an inkling of what you are going through and seems commited to making it better.

This is claire, and Obama took practically every demographic except old white super-christian people, latinos supported him about 2 to 1, over 2 to 1 for young voters, first time voters, and he took 95% of black voters. He had a 5% lead over mccain on women and interestingly mccain lost his advantage with men too. Almost every income group voted more for obama too, including the very lowest and the very highest income groups, and every level of education too.
So it's more like who *didn't* vote for obama than who did.

yeah i found it very interesting that he won with people that make over 200 thousand a year. he was very clear that there would be no tax breaks for them. I think being honest is something that all of our presidents have been lacking...maybe its a quality every group of people can see eye to eye on...

I voted for Obama because I feel he can change what every PREZ have tried to change in congress. Congress is the one who needs an eye opener on where this country is going. We don't want to be the country floating down the drain or flushed down the toilet. We won't to be the one that is victorious and can succumb over anything put in front of us.

I feel he is young and can fight for us (the poorer than $200 thousand bracket). We are the ones that need the tax breaks not the BIG wheels.
