stolen (old) property

After we brought Leanna home from school today I was planning to cut the canopies off the old double stroller to see if I could clean them and somehow sew them onto our new one and also clear out all our stuff from the bottom so I could put it out for trash tonight. You can only put large items out on a Thursday night. But the stroller was gone. Someone took the stroller off our porch! And the weird thing is that they left the wheel that pops off here. What are they going to do with a stroller with three wheels? And a broken basket. And it was clearly an old stroller that was well used, it was quite dirty. Who would come onto our porch and take that????
I'm actually kind of upset, for one thing we still had stuff in the basket underneath. Leanna was upset because we think her pink Disney princess hat was in there, and I think one of her old hats that Aunt Cindy made was in there-the raspberry one. Probably toys and a pacifier or two. I feel mainly kind of violated though, that someone came onto our porch to take something. They weren't just looking to recycle things because they didn't take the old screen door(we just put a new one on) or faucet that Tom has just laying there.

you've had so much stuff on that porch for so long, it doesn't surprise me at all actually...

don't ask how i ended up thinking about this...but did you know that you can't put surveillance up (a camera) without putting up a sign warning people that you are? so in other words, if you were to put a camera up on your porch and you filmed someone taking that stroller, they could sue you if you didn't have a warning. what a world.

We've mainly had work stuff or junk on the porch, and we have had someone take copper before (you can get money for that). And ceiling lights. But it seems rather bizzare for them to take an old broken stroller. I can see if it was newer, or if they thought we were putting it out for trash? But they didn't take the fourth wheel. And it wasn't near the porch steps or anything, they had to come all the way up on the porch and angle that thing between the garbage can and the chairs to get it out of there!

Are you sure that law applys to private property? Kind of rediculous anyway....
