Everything will be more expensive!

Just what we need!!
Food, gas, coffee, diapers & wipes!    The price of everything is going up!

Yup, it will be that is why families can't survive on one paycheck.

That is why families have to cut costs somewhere and it is always the kids that have to suffer. Some families already are suffering and have no other place to cut expenses. It just looks like there is no end in sight on getting any better.

The rich get richer and the poor get poorer, as the saying goes.

Hooray government printing of fiat currency unbacked by any real economic productivity! It won't be getting any better either, since this sort of silent taxation grows cancerously until the whole currency just collapses, unfortunately.

Personally, I have been saying for years now that times are going back to the early 1900's when families lived together because they needed the income. The nuclear family (where the parents and children only lived together in one house) is getting to be a thing of the past. It's not just children suffering, adults may find that there is no money for cigarettes or alcohol or soda, knowing there are some houses that you will never be able to afford.

God will judge those who manipulated the world so that mothers feel they have to leave their children to someone else while they work. I believe that it is God's will that women should be home raising their own children. There are more important things than having a nicer home or having the latest gadgets or new car. Money is not everything.

Alanna, I totally disagree with you about both parents working. I sit for parents that both work, one is even a school teacher and the other parents work together at the same place and those kids look forward to me sitting for them. They tell everyone they can that they have the best babysitter.

God is not going to judge these parents for leaving their kids so they can work. I would like to know where you are getting this information. We have a very loving God and he will not judge any of us if we have to leave our children in the hands of a caring person.

If it wasn't for both parents working to supply for their families, where would daycare workers be, where would babysitters like me be. We are all trying to make a living at caring for the working parents, as they would care for their kids. Doctors, nurses, lawyers, therapists and any other professional person all have kids and they hire nannies or babysitters like me to care for their kids, so that means that our loving God is going to judge them for working. I don't think so!. Where would we all be if we stayed home to care for our kids. We would all be sick and die, because they couldn't leave their kids to go to work to care for the sick. This world would go to HELL if everyone that had kids stayed home. Now, think about it. Where would we all be?

Does that mean when Laura finally finds the man of her dreams and decides to have children she should stay home and raise them and not council families in need of her services? And another thought, what happens if a father can't work anymore to supply for their family, do they are sit home and starve to death. I'll give you a good example; a young man I used to sit for (Jason), when my sons were young can't work anymore because of a back injury. They lost their house because of it. Thank goodness the mother of their 2 small children was working to put food on the table and clothes on their backs. That means God is going to judge them because she is working away from her kids.

That also means that God is going to judge John and Jamie because they both work to supply for their family. They have 2 beautiful kids that are left with either Nani Louise, me, or someone else, so they can go to work, because other people are depending on them at their job.

Tom & Steph are always going to be struggling in this life because of her making the decision to be a stay at home mom. That struggling will cause them both health problems in the end and it will shorten their life to be with their kids. Then where will those kids be if they lost one of them because of the constant worrying all the time of trying to make ends meet.

I could go on and on, but I guess I'm in the wrong for thinking like this.

Look at your life, where would you be if you didn't work along with Dave to buy the house you live in. I think your kids turned out fine, even though you had to work outside the home. My kids turned out fine and I went to work when they were 9 & 10.

I guess we will never see eye to eye on this subject.

But I will tell you this, I hope nothing happens to my son, because the burden is on his shoulders to supply for his family, because they will move in with you this time, for you have the bigger house for all those kids & adults. Steph will have no choice in the matter but to go to work to feed & clothe her kids.

The sentence my Mom actually wrote was: "God will judge those who manipulated the world so that mothers feel they have to leave their children to someone else while they work."

It does NOT say God will judge parents for working. Those who manipulated the world means those in power who become wealthy while reducing pay and benefits for their employees. The ones who refuse to see the possible benefits of family-friendly companies. The ones that don't offer decent leave after pregnancy/adoption or even to care for an elderly relative. Those who put the economy in the horrible place it is right now. I could go on but hopefully you see where I am going with this.

Also, for the record she did work outside the home for periods of time, not sure how long, but she worked for a while when I was very young, and I think after Laura was born she stopped. Then she did some babysitting for a single mother, and returned to working outside the home when I was in fifth grade. We moved into that house when I was in second grade.

I also worked for the first year of Leanna's life (after a 3 month maternity leave) and I also worked the duration of the pregnancy with Justin. And I worked for a decade before I had kids, some of that time going to college full time while working two jobs.
Her point was never condemnation of women who work.
This was not meant to be an inflamatory post-I was just briefly commenting on the economy!
