So we decided late Saturday night to have a painting party on Sunday. We have tons of white paint in our basement-stuff that was left here when we moved in and leftover paint from Tom's jobs. Someone had also left a tube of lavender tint so Tom decided to play with it. Since it seemed the right amount to do the kitchen, and I hate the color the kitchen was painted, we decided, why not? Laura offered her services for Sunday so Tom agreed to do it. I was shocked! I didn't expect to have the kitchen painted for years! Tom ran to Home Depot and used a generous gift card he'd received as a present to buy a few supplies. And he also bought a new heater for the back porch room and a new thermostat. So we have heat back there again! Tom hasn't done work to our house in a while! Late Christmas present for me!
So I know, Lavender isn't a typical kitchen color. And every man who hears it's lavender makes a face or a smirk, but I think it's a big improvement. It really lightens up the room. It goes well with the green blinds that were already in there. So right now it's a huge mess-furniture is all out of place and stuff that was moved is stacked around. Tom keeps debating how he's doing the trim around the two doors and if he's putting up chair-rail, and if he'll paint the trim around the windows or leave it.
