Retorts
Yesterday when we came home from school, a neighbor from down the street was also headed home. As they passed us the little boy, probably in 2nd or 3rd grade, said to me,"I can't believe you have four kids!" And the Dad said, without missing a beat, "I can't believe what a big mouth you have!" to the kid. LOL. I don't mind something like that from a kid. But if an adult said it rudely, I would love to say something like that in return. :)

I cross a brother & sister that come from a large family to. There are originally from NYC. THe little girl is supposed to be in 3rd grade and the little boy is in 2nd grade, but they are both in the same grade because the little girl had trouble. I guess we are ahead of NYC in schooling, because the mother said she was really struggling when she first started this year.
I didn't know they came from a large family, until I saw the mother, grandmother, a double stroller with 2 small children, and the 2 that go to school. I said to her my son and daughter-in-law have 4 children, also. I told her I give her a lot of credit because I sure couldn't do it. She told me it is tough, but you do it.
MaryEllen, who is a beautician at Marie's, Chuck used to work with her husband, Harry, at Sherwin Williams. She told me she came from a family of 6 kids and she hated it. I asked her why? She said we never had any money to buy the extra things kids like. She said she grew up poor. She said, we never went on vacation because there was no money. There wasn't enough time to get ready, because there was only one bathroom. She said they never had enough food to eat, because they didn't have enough money to buy food. She said, they were always looked down upon because there were so many kids. She said she feels sorry when she sees a family with a lot of kids because she knows times are so tough.
She said she vowed when she got married she wouldn't do that to herself, because she wasn't happy coming from a large family. Apparently her mother & father must not have minded having 6 kids, because she never heard them complain.
