Interest in the world around us......

Leanna's currently interested in saving the dolphins.  She's trying to come up with a way to raise money for them.  This new concern is from the current issue of American Girl Magazine.  I'm very proud of Leanna's interest in saving the planet and it's inhabitants!  I don't think I was thinking about those things until I was much older.

Quilts & free patterns!

I ran into this site, for free patterns of all different things.  Sewing, knitting, crochet, printables, etc.  I found a page of doll quilts, but neater still, it shows quilts from different periods of history that match with each of the American Girl dolls.  A lesson in sewing, history, and fun!  It's always nice to find more than you were looking for!

McDonalds Dolls-AG

If you get happy meals from McDonalds but don't want the toy-ask for a girl toy and pass it along to Leanna. Right now they have American Girl paperdolls. We're fans of A.G. here, so that's a big deal. I got one for her-she now has the one with Kit (depression era). She had a lot of fun setting this up and playing with it and even had me film a couple scenes. Very cute.

It even happened to Hannah Montanna

Even Miley Cyrus was bullied relentlessly at school
For Miley, the abuse eventually stopped, but for the 30 percent of kids who undergo school hazing each year (stats are fuzzy since many cases go unreported), this type of treatment can lead to depression, even suicide.

I'll definitely be showing this story to Leanna.

(This subject is apparently a timely one, as even the American Girl doll of the year deals with bullying. 2009's doll, Chrissa deals with the subject, and although the dolls are pricey, the books are a lot more reasonable.)
