My father-in-law complained that I forgot his birthday, and Father's Day in my post on celebrations. He's right that I forgot to add father's day-that often does get put off a bit because father's day is right in the midst of our 3 family birthdays. That was a mistake.
But his birthday wasn't in there because it's sort of all alone. The point I was making was that the flurry of holidays and birthdays seems to begin for me in May. I also left out Claire's birthday-Dec. 14th-because for me anyway, it seems more isolated. For Claire it probably feels like it's mashed in with Christmas. I would have included Maree's birthday's birthday-Dec. 26th-but since she stopped having birthday parties we just give her the presents when we see her for Christmas now. So it doesn't really feel like an extra celebration. Anyway, it's written from my point of view, I certainly didn't mean that any birthdays not mentioned weren't important, or that the people they belong to aren't as loved.

And then it start all over again the following year. Our celebrations have dwindled down, since cousins have grown up, my grandparents & the kids grandparents are not here anymore, except Nanny Jarrell, but we don't celebrate hers anymore because she doesn't remember too much on dates. It gets very sad to think of our families that have past and to remember the precious times we celebrated their lives here with us.
Sorry so long......but I wanted to show you how it was when Tom was a little boy to now being an adult with celebrating birthdays and such. It sure can be very expensive and tiring.
geesh!
There are 40 special dates here and now we are down to 27 dates, but out of the 27 we can knock off a few more, since we adults have grown up and special occasions are for kids, now.
Plus, when my nieces and nephews graduated high school their birthdays and Christmas's were no more for us, so there are some more you can knock off.
Now, the only thing we celebrate is the immediate family and kids. Makes it more reasonable, I do believe and wise in this day and age.
Sue, you forgot Jacob! How could you, it's the day after yours!!
Heck, I didn't include cousins or Aunts/Uncles and anniversaries, now that would get really crazy!
Special occasions aren't just for kids! You're sitll special!
Oh, my I'm so sorry I did forget him....July 17th-Jacob's birthday. Wow, I can't believe he is going to be 2 years old all ready. Where does the time go. Steph, pretty soon Justin will be off to kindergarten, if not this Sept., next Sept. Leanna will either be in 3rd or 4th grade when he goes to school.
Wow, we are getting older, NOT old, just older, LOL.
