Calendar/journal

I was searching for something on Amazon.com and ran across this Susan Branch calendar/journal. My Aunt got this for me a few years back and I thought it was a great idea, especially when you can get it cheap through a used book seller (Or maybe even on ebay). I'm a big Susan Branch fan. I think her illustrations and style in general are just so cozy and home-y, I just like them. It's good for people who don't have the time or inclination to keep a full journal. It has pretty pictures and space for a few lines about what you did each day or even just to record appointments. I had it the year I was pregnant with Justin and it's interesting to go back and read it. I also use it as a reference for scrapbooking. Just thought I'd share.

Why would you buy it used, unless it wasn't used, meaning written in. Then it would be OK.

I like getting a bargain on anything that I like as books, used furniture in great shape, clothing, etc. It makes me feel I did good shopping. I like going to thrift shops, yard sales, garage sales and just plain sales.

When you buy an item like that from a used bookseller it's only been previously owned, not previously used. No one would buy it otherwise.

Yes, you passed that gene along to your son. (and lucky for him, I have that gene too!)

I don't think I passed it on to him. I think his Nanny J. did. She was the yard sale queen.

I really wish Tom, You and the kids would go see her. I think she would love seeing the new baby Jacob. As a matter of fact I'm calling her now to talk to her. Hopefully she is in a good place mentally.

She was packing her things to go home, sad isn't it. She misses us all, including dad and Brian.

Very very sad. Unfortunately, with the baby having a slight cold, his immune system (what little there is to it at this stage) is compromised.....I do not think it would have been wise to take him to see her. At this point he occasionally sounds congested, but it's pretty much gone. I think I would still like to wait at least another week before taking him into Gracedale. Everytime we've brought a baby there staff members rush over to us as we get off the elevator to caution us not to let any residents touch the baby. Germs spread like wildfire there. If she were still in her own home it'd be different, I'm sure she would have been one of the first to meet him. His safety is important though, we can't ignore that. Nanny J. is living my nightmare, with alzheimers and the nursing home.

Have Tommy call her and talk to her when all of you are around and if he ever comes home at an early time of night. She would even love to talk to you.

She wants me to write all the great-grandkids name down for her so she doesn't forget them.

I just wish he son would go see her more than he does.

i was just scanning back b/c i'm bored and i thought about something neat...the last time we were visiting my parents, i looked through all of my mom's old pocket calenders and it brought back so many memories! and it only had doctor's appts. and my various piano or flute lesson appts. and the occasional vacations, even my mom's dog's vet appts. I think calenders make the best memoirs!!
